Dear SCEA Board, Officers, and Members,
I do agree with SCEA that the By-laws need amending every so often.
Three of the four (1, 2, & 4) amendments are okay. I am a little uneasy
with amendment 3, which calls in particular for President and Executive
Vice President to be elected by the BOD.
This amendment could have come about because of the confusion that
occurred in the previous election. That was a rather unfortunate incident.
While that incident should serve as a good lesson, it should not serve as
the ground why this particular part of the by-law be changed. The change
in this particular instance should be the procedures of election, not the
by-law.
Personally, I am of the opinion that these two positions (President and
Executive Vice President) should be elected by members.
Otherwise, when all key positions are elected/appointed by the BOD,
I foresee more finger-pointing in the future. This incidentally was part
of the finger-pointing in the "impropriety" of the previous election.
