  • Q: Who is eligible to compete?
    A: All teams are eligible but require one teammate to be a SCEA member who joined before the contest deadline. You can become a SCEA member online through here today.


  • Q: I live outside of the Silicon Valley, am I eligible for the competition?
    A: Yes, today, SCEA has almost 6000 members, located all around the world, particularly in US, Europe and Asia.


  • Q: Do the proposals have to focus on technology?
    A: Yes, the proposals have to focus on innovative products, services, or solutions in high-tech or biotech fields, as this is the main focus of SCEA.


  • Q: Could a business plan be submitted even though it has entered other competitions, or is preparing to enter another competition be submitted?
    A: Yes, for example you may submit your plan to both SCEA competition and the WIN in China competition.


  • Q: What if I have never written a business plan?
    A: Now is a good time to start. SCEA will have a series of training sessions to help our members to write a successful business plan.


  • Q: Who are the judges?
    A: The judges for the SCEA business competition represent a diverse group of business professionals including investors, corporate management executives, business school professors, and lawyers.


  • Q: Will the judges and SCEA executive members who are working on the competitions sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)?
    A: No, requiring the judges and the executive members to sign a NDA would overwhelm them with legal requirements and inhibit their ability to participate in the competition. You should take appropriate steps to protect you intellectual property just as you would if you were approaching investors.
